It is currently unclear how many are injured.
The OPP are currently investigating a “significant” incident on Highway 401 and Brock Road in Pickering.
Durham Regional Police said there were “multiple vehicles on fire” and OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt added that there was “significant fire” and “explosions being heard.” Durham Police tweeted “residents in Pickering in the area of the large fire on HWY 401 near Brock should keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution.”Durham Regional Police are responding to assist the OPP.
Closures are currently in place between Westney and Whites Roads and are expected to remain closed overnight, said Schmidt.
