Opinion: The Without Walls Festival is bringing San Diegans together to celebrate the arts [Opinion]
Each April, Californians for the Arts sponsors Arts, Culture & Creativity Month to underscore the importance of art in the Golden State.Without Walls, or WOW, is one of La Jolla Playhouse’s signature performance programs that takes art outside traditional theater walls and into unique and surprising spaces.
In addition to the San Diego Symphony, similar partnerships have been created for WOW events at Arts District Liberty Station, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, UC San Diego and many more locations, in addition to collaborations with city officials, the San Diego Tourism Authority, individual and corporate sponsors, and countless others, all of whom enhance the WOW experience while bringing employment opportunities and tourism dollars to San Diego.
The WOW Festival also attracts diverse audiences, including locals and global visitors alike. Designed to serve and welcome people of all ages and all ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, the event reaches nearly 20,000 people annually.
