Opinion: San Diego needs candidates who put residents first [Opinion]

I moved to San Diego 50 years ago. Driving out of my neighborhood, I am stunned to see huge condos and apartments rising out of every vacant lot available in an already-crowded city. Between insane schemes to eliminate gas cars before charging stations are set up to hitting up taxpayers for buying unusable buildings and threatening to create a road tax, it’s evident our elected officials don’t care what we think.

The elites will not be affected by any of this — their wealth will protect them from having to worry about it. We have a shortage of water and power at the same time we’re being told to cut back while we watch these giant apartments fill with more people. Thanks to the U-T, we have the “San Diego Memories” series of books to remember what it used to be like. We need far wiser candidates to vote for. Our city is at the crossroads. I could cry.
