respectively, per resident. We still fall short of where we should be and all our parks can enjoy more investment and programming.Park investments make San Diego a healthier place to live. Parks address growing rates of physical inactivity, poor mental health and social isolation. Our parks are about more than providing a venue for team sports or fitness classes.

When it comes to everyone benefiting from parks, though, San Diego still has more to do. We need to invest in a strategic way if we want to ensure better park equity. Park disparities are based on where you live. For example, right now, our neighborhoods of color have access toless park space than our White neighborhoods. The San Diego Foundation did a thorough report on describing multiple barriers to access.
