Arabo violated the trust and financial security of an organization that represents California’s family-owned markets and small grocery stores.
Arabo exploited his position of trust to wrongly obtain $248,000 from NMA bank accounts, including a bogus $210,000 “finder’s fee” for a real estate transaction. In ruling against Arabo in a lawsuit filed by NMA members, Judge Richard Strauss also noted that “Arabo lied to the board to obtain a $38,000 expense reimbursement and undertook a tax avoidance scheme” related to his expense account.
Arabo has clearly lost the public trust. We urge the governor to immediately rescind Arabo’s appointment to the District Board.
