Opinion: DA, police chief must explain decision-making in handling of SDSU rape investigation [Opinion]
Wednesday’s announcement by the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office that Matt Araiza, the former star punter for the San Diego State football team, and his former teammates Nowlin “Pa’a” Ewaliko and Zavier Leonard will not face charges for allegedly gang raping a 17-year-old at an off-campus party in October 2021 needs to be evaluated carefully and thoughtfully.

We hope this case doesn’t add to the reluctance that sexual assault victims may have to go to police. Our system is flawed. But justice is still possible.
