Opinion: As Board of Supervisors chair, I want to bring humanity to our homelessness solutions [Opinion]
These aren’t problems that are simple to solve behind a dais or with the swing of a gavel. We will find solutions by going into our communities and listening to what people really need. Bringing people together has always been my approach, and that will continue to be how I operate as county board chairwoman.
That’s why I’m working to create an era of cooperation and civility in our county government. I believe diversity and contrasting perspectives contribute to the strength of our democracy. It wasn’t that long ago that I was the activist speaking at county meetings and the community member marching at rallies and urging policymakers to support causes I believed in. And I want all voices to be heard.
Building bridges to all communities is my lifelong goal as a proud fronteriza. I look forward to working with all of you to make that happen as we build a better county for all.
