Mike McEwen didn’t have a hint of frustration after his home side Ontario rink bowed out of the Brier Saturday afternoon.

“You’ve got to put things in perspective,” the skip said after a 6-3 loss to Wild Card 1’s Brendan Bottcher in the Page 3-4 game. “We were in the grave before Christmas and pretty much wrote ourselves off and everybody else had us off. “We were entertaining,” McEwen, the 42-year-old Winnipegger said. “I loved the atmosphere and everything about it and just to arrive back in that after my departure for a few years feels really good.”Article content Down two in the seventh, McEwen settled for one after failing to stick an angle slash. He surrendered a steal of one in the ninth after missing a runback to fall three points back.

“Not disappointed,” he said. “We played a great game. A millimetre thicker or thinner, I make that crazy one to tie the game. Where I hit popped enough that it wasn’t for two. They put on a hitting clinic. Not often you see a team convert that many runs and doubles. I had one little tick on a chaser and that runner goes a little differently, it’s a tie game.
