Unlike the father in question, there is no evidence the mother “has a fentanyl addiction, was directly aware that she was under the specific influence of fentanyl at the time or deliberately or intentionally chose to ingest it,” Justice Krista Lynn Leszczynski told the court in sentencing the woman.Article content
That said, the accused was convicted of impaired driving after nodding off in the middle of an intersection. “They were in her exclusive care at the time and they could not be reasonably expected to understand the risk that their mother placed them in or remove themselves from that situation in order to protect themselves,” Justice Leszczynski said of the children.“impaired driving is a serious crime that poses a significant threat to public safety.
