OnePlus is getting ready to launch its first folding smartphone in the form of the OnePlusOpen. Here's everything we know so far!
There have been rumors that OnePlus has been working on a foldable phone for several years, but now we have official confirmation that the OnePlus Open is real and actually in the works. Originally, we thought the foldable would be called the “OnePlus V Fold,” but it has since been teased that it will most likely be called the OnePlus Open, even from OnePlus itself.
Also setting the OnePlus Open apart from the rest of the foldable world is OnePlus’ unique camera array. The leaked images show off three rear cameras arranged in a circle that looks similar to the camera island featured on the OnePlus 11. Unlike the OnePlus 11, though, the LED flash seems like it’s positioned in the top-left corner of the Open as opposed to being a part of the camera island.
SmartPrix has acquired some new renders of the OnePlus Open, which has some big changes in the design from what we first saw earlier. With some influence from the Oppo Find N2, it appears the inner and outer displays now have a wider aspect ratio, making the display seem larger and making one-handed use a bit easier, like on the Google Pixel Fold. But unlike the Find N2, the OnePlus Open seems to have a larger overall size and display, along with more rounded corners and thinner bezels.
One of the most pressing questions regarding the foldable’s specs is in regard to its processor. The OnePlus 11 was outfitted with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which will likely be put in the OnePlus Open as well. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is one of the best processors on the market and is the same chip powering other major Android flagships like the Galaxy S23 Ultra. There are also rumors suggesting that the phone could get a slightly upgraded Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 chipset instead.
OnePlus Open: cameras A few leaks suggest that the OnePlus Open will have an impressive camera array in addition to the rest of its solid specs. According to the leaks, the OnePlus Open will have a 50MP main camera that uses the Sony IMX890 sensor to capture high-quality images — the same camera found on the OnePlus 11 and the Oppo Find X6.
On the inner display, the selfie camera may move from the left corner to the right. And while it looks like it will still have Hasselblad branding, the “Hasselblad” logo on the rear camera island will be replaced with a simple, more elegant-looking “H” logo instead.
