'I feel really bad for the kids because this is something I think they’ll remember.' — A woman celebrating her twin granddaughters' fifth birthday witnessed the deadly shooting yesterday outside a Chuck E. Cheese in Indianapolis.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called around 5:30 p.m. to the 10000 block of East Washington Street on the report of a person shot in the parking lot outside a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant.
They found a person who was dead with at least one apparent gunshot wound when they arrived, IMPD Officer Samone Burris said in an email.A woman named Debra who was celebrating a birthday party for her twin granddaughters described a chaotic scene with people running to try to get out of the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant.
"Just seconds before, we had several of the grandkids up front where the windows were shattered," she said."After that, nobody knew where to run, didn’t know who in the building was shooting." Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Detective Lottie Patrick at the IMPD Homicide Office by calling 317-327-3475 or by sending an email to [email protected]."This is a place that kids should be able to go to and just have fun," Debra said."This should have never happened there or anywhere else, really. I feel really bad for the kids because this is something I think they’ll remember.
