Fifteen seniors from Dauphin and the surrounding area were killed on a casino trip June 15, when the minibus they were travelling in went into the path of a semi-trailer. A 16th victim died in hospital a few days later.
“It appears to be the best way that those folks are handling it,” said Bosiak. “As every day goes by and while we will never forget, we can carry on with regular life.”
Since the crash, Dauphin and its residents have been overwhelmed by support from across the country, said Bosiak, including outreach from Humboldt, Sask., who suffered through a 2018 bus crash which claimed the lives of 16 players and staff from the Broncos junior hockey team. In the wake of the crash there was talk of a memorial being set up in Dauphin to honour those who died such as a memorial garden, said Bosiak. However, he added that it is too early to start planning something like that, especially with survivors still in hospital.
Bosiak said they have been following the direction of the RCMP right from the beginning on how to handle the situation including the release of information.
