Disney+ released an exclusive snippet of the perfectly-angsty performance a few days before the film’s release:“I really wanted to make this film for my fans, and especially my fans who maybe couldn’t come to my tour this go around,” Olivia toldabout the live arrangements in the doc. Olivia delivers another high-energy rock performance later in the film with “Brutal,” featuring guest performers electric guitarist Towa Bird and bassist Blu DeTiger.
Though the heart of the film is the music, Olivia does share some of her own perspective and insight on the breakup that inspired her album, reading a vulnerable journal entry from the day she got her driver's license and revealing her hesitancy behind releasing “Deja Vu" as her second single. The singer wanted to avoid perpetuating the “love triangle” drama that surrounded “Drivers License.
“Drivers License” faced immense public speculation upon its release, as both fans and the media latched onto rumors that the song was about Olivia's split from actor“I thought if put this song out then I was also playing into this drama, love triangle, ‘let’s hate on other girls' thing, and I just did not want to do that,” Olivia went on. "I never write any of my songs from that point of view because that's not something that I feel.
