There have been strict reporting restrictions in place to ensure Cashman got a fair trial, but there are now a number of new details that can be revealed to the public. Russell admitted driving Cashman away from the house where he said he was at the time, driving him through the estate to go and collect his own van, but also admitting that he took a bag from Cashman that he thought had his clothes in and disposed of that by handing it to someone else.
Maria Corr, of CPS Mersey Cheshire's Complex Casework Unit, said:"This has been a truly tragic case and one of the most complex I have had to deal with in my 32 years with the Crown Prosecution Service. "He refused to display any guilt or remorse, denying his involvement throughout and putting Olivia's family through the torment of a lengthy trial."As the verdict was announced there were gasps and tears from Olivia's family - and from Cashman himself.His family, including partner Kayleeanne Sweeney, sat in a public gallery behind a glass partition.
