A new poll of Ohio voters from Baldwin Wallace University released early today showed former Vice President Biden leading President Trump by 1 point in the Buckeye State

The poll of 797 registered voters had Biden garnering 45% of the vote to Trump’s 44%, a 5 point swing from March when Trump led Biden by 4 points.

The poll found Trump’s favorability underwater by 5 points, with 43% viewing him favorably and 48% viewing him unfavorably, compared to Biden who was down by 1 point. Trump’s approval rating was even, 49% to 49%, while his handling of COVID-19 was viewed slightly more positively, with 50% saying they approve to 46% saying they disapprove.

That falls well behind Ohio Governor Mike DeWine who had an 85% approval rating for his COVID-19 response and a 75% overall favorability rating in the same poll. A bright spot for Trump is that while his approval rating was slightly negative, he still got high marks for the economy despite a growing recession, with 56% saying they approve of his handling of the economy to 41% saying they disapprove. In the race to be Biden’s Vice President, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren and California Senator Kamala Harris were the overwhelming favorites among Democrats and Democratic-leaners.
