While it’s still unclear how many of the 52 bills introduced will end up passing, what is clear is that Speaker Jason Stephens and House Republicans will seek to pass many controversial measures that died at the end of last session.

. For a time, that bill contained a controversial provision to require athletes to undergo genital examinations when their sex was questioned. HB6 does not contain any examination requirement.House Bill 33 contains Gov. Mike DeWine’s massive two-year, $200 billion-plus state budget bill, which seeks more money for K-12 education, college tuition assistance, and local governments, as well as new tax incentives to help children and boost affordable housing.

GOP lawmakers tried unsuccessfully at the end of last year’s lame-duck session to put it on the statewide primary ballot in May.
