A separate bill would repeal so-called ‘stand your ground’

State Rep. Dontavius Jarrells, D-Columbus, speaks to a new proposal to give local control on gun laws in the states.

State Reps. Dontavius Jarrells and Terrence Upchurch introduced House Bill 274 in the House State and Local Government Committee with hopes to bring local control back to firearms laws. “A governing body must be able to regulate instruments that have the capacity to kill, especially in the plight of mass shootings,” Jarrells said.
