Officers responded around 1 a.m. to reports of someone with a gun in a parking lot in the Canoga Park neighborhood, police said. Police spokesperson Jader Chaves said the shooting occurred when the armed man in the pickup did not comply with the officers’ verbal commands. He not specify what those commands were, how many officers opened fire or what exactly led to the shooting.

Hundreds of law enforcement officers joined the family and fiancée of Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer on Thursday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles.
