Former President Barack Obama called Chicago Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson on Saturday, offering the freshly elected Johnson a bit of parenting advice.
Obama, whose political career saw him journey from Chicago's South Side to the White House, had an"extended conversation" with Johnson, a 47-year-old father of three, according to a report."Obama spent a decent amount of time giving advice about raising a family with young kids while holding executive office," a source close to Johnson reportedly said.
The mayor-elect defeated Paul Vallas last week to become Chicago's 57th mayor, and his young children will be raised in the political spotlight. Former first lady Michelle Obama has frequently commented on raising the Obamas' daughters, Malia and Sasha, as the 44th president made his way from Hyde Park and Springfield to Washington, D.C.President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have also called Johnson in the wake of his election, according to the report.
During his call with Biden, Johnson supposedly pitched Chicago as the location for the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
