Police shared the name and images of a man sought in connection with a fatal shooting late last month outside an East Oakland shop, authorities said.
Oakland police shared images Thursday, November 17, 2022, of Juan Lopez, 26, of Oakland, and said he was being sought in connection with a fatal shooting late last month outside an East Oakland smoke shop. , officers responded shortly before 8:45 p.m. October 28 to Ali Baba Smoke Shop, 10220 International Blvd., and found a 25-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The man, later identified as Pablo Garcia Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene. The killing was the 107th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. The California Highway Patrol has also investigated five homicides on Oakland freeways. A 27-year-old woman was also shot in the leg at the scene, and later hospitalized in stable condition, police said.
Police had not released a motive for the shooting or made any arrests, but said Thursday they were sharing images of Juan Lopez, 26, of Oakland, in the hope that someone who recognized him or knew him might contact law enforcement.
