New York Police officers arrest a protestor who participated in an encampment on the Columbia University campus on Thursday. The protestors were calling for the school to divest from corporations profiting from the war in the Middle East.
A university spokesperson said the school is still identifying those who participated in the protests and will send them formal notifications. A spokesperson for NYPD said they didn't have an official count of how many people were arrested as of Thursday afternoon. "I have never been reprimanded or received any disciplinary warnings," she said. "I just received notice that I am 1 of 3 students suspended for standing in solidarity with Palestinians facing a genocide."Omar questioned Shafik about the school's protection of Muslim and pro-Palestinian students during the hearing, which was centered on antisemitism.Share on twitter
