NYPD: Brooklyn teen's death marks 4th fatal subway strike within 24 hours
The death of a 16-year-old girl Tuesday evening marked the fourth fatal subway strike within a 24-hour period, though only one was the result of an attack, police said.
NYPD officials said it was unclear what she was doing there or who she was with, but did not suspect any foul play. Police said the individual was found dead on the tracks after being struck and killed by a southbound Q train around 2 p.m. The person’s age and gender were not immediately known. MTA spokesperson Tim Minton said the number of deaths is not considered a record, though he could not say what the 24-hour fatality record was and advised Gothamist to file a public records request.
