Chiara de Blasio was arrested Saturday, according to the NYPD. She is one of thousands arrested during protests over the death of George Floyd.
At a news conference Monday, Mayor de Blasio said he trusts his daughter's explanation to him and his wife that she was protesting peacefully Saturday before she was arrested.
"She wants to see a better and more peaceful world. She believes a lot of change is needed. I’m proud of her that she cares so much that she was willing to go out and do something about it."
