An appeals court overturned the top murder charge against a Trinitarios gang member convicting in the Bronx slaying of Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz.

“We find that the evidence was legally insufficient to prove that defendant inflicted torture on the victim within the meaning of the statute in two respects,” the ruling reads. Judge Robert Neary in 2019 sentenced the five gangbangers who killed Guzman-Feliz, including Martinez Estrella. “There was simply no evidence that could have possibly satisfied the elements of first-degree murder on the theory of torture,” Feinman said. “As such, the court properly reversed appellant’s conviction of that crime.
