Alaska State Troopers respond to numerous suspected overdoses this week in the Mat-Su Valley area.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Alaska State Troopers have responded to numerous suspected overdoses this week in the Mat-Su Valley area.

It is believed a lethal batch of illicit drugs are circulating in Mat-Su and is the cause for the rise in the overdose cases. Law enforcement officers from South Central Alaska are actively investigating the source of the drugs. According to an AST public safety announcement, “at least three people are believed to have died as a result of drugs likely containing fentanyl, and at least 11 other overdose emergencies have been reported to law enforcement, since April 1.”

Due to the high levels of potency in the current circulation of illegal drugs in the Mat-Su area, law enforcement encourages anyone who uses illegal drugs to take extra caution. Narcan is provided free of charge through the Alaska Department of Health’s Project Hope. More information about distribution is available through theirCall AST at 907-352-5401 if you or anyone you know has any information about drug trafficking in the Mat-Su area.
