Caleb Foster, who is one of the most highly-touted guards in the country, spoke about not being selected to the McDonald’s All-American game.
Foster, who transferred from Oak Hill Acadamy , has been declared one of the biggest snubs from the prestigious game this year along with Oregon commit Jackson Shelstad . When Foster committed to Duke in the fall of 2021, he was ranked the No. 16 prospect in his class, according to ESPN. The latest ESPN rankings suddenly have him ranked No. 31, lower than Sierra Canyon’s Bronny James at No. 28 – son of LeBron James – who was selected for the game.
The 247Sports.com composite rankings have Foster ranked No. 17. Fellow Duke-commit Jared McCain of Corona Centennial is ranked No. 15 and was named a McDonald’s All-American Tuesday. The game takes 24 total players, 12 from the West and 12 from the East. Sources close to the selection process for the event say Foster was in the final grouping of players to be selected.
Notre Dame will play Sierra Canyon at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion at 8 p.m. Friday night. Bronny James has not played the last three games for Sierra Canyon due to a swollen knee and his return to the floor is questionable for Friday’s game. Top-ranked junior Isaiah Elohim has missed the last two games with swelling in a knee he had surgery on this past summer. His availability is a question mark, too.“This adds a little something more to the game now,” Foster said.
