Prairie Valley School Division is joining several other Sask. school boards to express concern over another year of tight budget allocations.

“We’ve seen education budgets continually be tough over the last number of years,” said Kotylak.this year’s education budget

Divisions are facing continually rising costs linked to inflation, like transportation and utilities, which boards are saying have not been considered in the operational allocation from the ministry. For Prairie Valley, enrolment numbers are increasing but not enough to cover the difference, said the board.

Southeast Cornerstone School Division announced in a May 18 board meeting that a total of 21 full-time teachers would be cut for the fall, in addition to administration, educational support and facilities staff.Article content
