Ireland, Spain, and Norway announced it would formally recognize Palestine as a state

The three countries said the declaration is a step in the right direction toward resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Harris said he hopes the new designation of a Palestinian state will provide “hope and encouragement to the people of Palestine at one of their darkest hours.” Norway recognises Palestine as a state, in line with international law and relevant UNSC resolutions.“The terror has been committed by Hamas and militant groups who are not supporters of a two-state solution and the state of Israel,” Støre said. “Palestine has a fundamental right to an independent state.”Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced that his country would begin recognizing a Palestinian state on May 28.
