A T3 Transit bus stops in the Wal-Mart parking lot near the intersection of Sandstone Road and Buchannan Drive in Charlottetown. The bus stop is accessible by sidewalk on Sandstone Road, but there is no sidewalk along Buchannan Drive. - Alison Jenkins/SaltWire NetworkKaran Goel walks the hill nearly every day to get to and from his job and classes at the University of Prince Edward Island.

“It’s harder to walk when it’s after 6 p.m.,” he said, referring to the dark winter evenings. “You always need to make sure the cars coming down are seeing you.”“But it has to be safe and accessible public transport if we want people to use it and right now, that hill is not safe or accessible at all.”

When SaltWire Network contacted the chair of the public works committee, Coun. Julie McCabe, she had the city’s communications department send this email: “The City has no comment as the land in question is private.”
