“It’s hard because we’re up north, to get that kind of support. We went and had a walk in P.A., we had a vigil, we had a walk in our community,” she added. The family has been told he left with some “friends,” but she doesn’t believe they were friends — just people he may have known through his cousins, she added.
She said she last heard from him on May 27 at 8:30 p.m., when he asked her for a code for Snapchat, a popular social media app. When she did not respond right away to a message, he called to ask for the code and mentioned it was his grandmother’s “birthday in heaven,” she added.She told him to be safe and that she loved him.
