Nissan has sold a shed-load of EVs, placing on the right trajectory to enact its electrification plans. The company will launch 19 new EVs between now and 2030. CAR...

Europe responded best to Nissan’s electric cars, swallowing around a third of the company’s total EV stock in the past 13 years. Figures like these are encouraging for the company, as it has an ambitious electrification strategy to enact which will see it launch 19 new EVs by 2030 – and the data shows that there’s a strong market waiting to welcome those new vehicles.

Naturally, though, Nissan isn’t satisfied with its current sales figures and aims to drive them up more. It hopes electrified vehicles will account for 75 percent of its sales in Europe, 55 percent of its sales in Japan and 40 percent of its sales in China. The company is also aiming for 40 percent of its cars in the US to be either hybrid or fully electric by 2030.The Chill Out is what Nissan called its ‘near-future EV.

During the same year, Nissan aims to launch an EV with a solid-state battery technology. It says it’s working on a plant to manufacture solid-state cells that’ll be up and running by 2024. By doing this, Nissan says its BEVs will drop in cost to that of a combustion-engined car by the end of the decade.Well, in July 2021, Nissan announced a new £1 billion facility for the brand’s Sunderland plant.
