“We like to be able to provide a place for people to put cigarette butts because I remember back a number of years ago we had a summer student who went out on a short mission and collected just cigarette butts and she counted them and there was a couple thousand. We posted it on our social media and some of the feedback that we noticed was ‘Well, where do you expect people to put them?’ or ‘There’s nowhere to put them’ — and I get that.
“We really tried to spread them around downtown Sydney while keeping in mind those high-traffic areas where there are likely to be more cigarette butts,” said Wilson.
