Nicola Sturgeon warns UK Government that blocking gender recognition reforms would be an 'outrage'
Nicola Sturgeon has the warned the UK Government it would be an "outrage" if Tory ministers block gender recognition reforms passed by Holyrood.
Speaking at a press conference today on the NHS, Sturgeon was asked if such a decision would be an outrage. "And it was passed by an overwhelming majority of the Scottish Parliament after lengthy and intense scrutiny by MSPs of all parties. "It’s the Secretary of State for Scotland who is the ultimate decision-maker and you can expect to hear from him before the deadline on Wednesday."It allows trans people to obtain a gender recognition certificate without the need for a medical diagnosis.
