While the Calgary Flames may be struggling to put up wins, they have not been having issues generating shots on goal. Over their last 10 games, the Flames are averaging 73 shot attempts per game, with 35 on target. Backlund has been on an impressive roll, going over on 3.5 shots in 10 of his last 11 games, averaging 4.5 shots.
Calgary is in Dallas tonight, squaring off against a Stars team that is middle-of-the-pack when it comes to shots allowed , but as we’ve seen, the Flames seem to get shots against any opponent.The Oilers’ power play gets a lot of attention, and deservedly so. At 31.86%, it’s by far the best in the NHL and is currently tied with the 1977-78 Montreal Canadiens for the most efficient power play in league history.
However, Edmonton’s penalty kill is a bit of a different story. On the season, the Oilers’ PK is 8th worst in the NHL at 75.2%. While the Sabres’ power play isn’t as deadly as Edmonton’s, it’s not too shabby, coming in at 25.1%.The over/under in this game is at 7 at most sports books, so Vegas expects lots of offence. Some of which will come on the power play.
