Pittsburgh quarterback and Oakhurst, N.J. native Kenny Pickett finished third in voting for the 2021 Heisman Trophy Award. He's expected to be a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Reported to have hands just over 8 inches in size , Pickett’s hand size has been the talk of the town. And there’s concern that it may prevent him from consistently gripping NFL footballs.Pitt QB Kenny Pickett didn’t have his hands measured here in Mobile, but he has a good reason: He’s double jointed, so his thumb naturally points an odd direction, and he’s doing extra exercises to get an accurate measurement at the combine in March.
“Somebody said to me, ‘if you ever meet Pickett and he shakes your hand, the thumb seems all out of wack.’ That’s because it comes out sideways, and it doesn’t go straight up,” Pauline said. “And what that double-jointed thumb does, it makes it easier for him to grip the football. … They’ll put the ball in his hands, and they’ll try to beat it out of his hands to see if he can grip the football.
