NFL.com analyst, Bucky Brooks. likes the Seattle Seahawks’ chances of winning the NFC West under first-year head coach Mike MacDonald. In a recent article, Bucky ranked this season’s eight first-year head coaches based on what he believes their chances are of winning their respective divisions. It’s important to note that “first-year” head coach does not necessarily mean “rookie” head coach, as veteran coaches like former Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and Jim Harbaugh are included.
Where exactly does Mike MacDonald rank on the list? Crediting an offense that bolsters “a potent trio” of wide receivers and a “defense loaded with blue-chip playmakers at every level,” Brooks believes that Coach Macdonald has the second-best chance among first-year head coaches to win his division, ranking behind only Raheem Morris of the Atlanta Falcons, who might just be the best team in a shaky NFC South with or without him.
