Brazil’s hopes of a sixth World Cup title appeared to take a dent when the team confirmed that its star player, Neymar, would miss the rest of the group stage with an ankle injury.
DOHA, Qatar—Brazil backed up its standing as a favorite to win the World Cup on Thursday night by looking, well, like Brazil. But on Friday, the country’s hopes of a sixth title appeared to take a dent when the team confirmed that its star player, Neymar, would miss the rest of the group stage with an ankle injury.
Though Neymar will now sit out Brazil’s games against Switzerland and Cameroon, the team was hopeful that he would return in time for the knockout rounds.
