Annette Addo-Yobo made history when she was crowned Miss Texas at the beginning of July.
"I am the first immigrant-born Miss Texas, as well as the first Ghanaian to win the title," Addo-Yobo said.
Addo-Yobo moved to the United States from Ghana when she was a toddler. She became a U.S. citizen 2-years ago, which made her eligible to enter the pageant. First, she won Miss Dallas, then Miss Southlake, and then Miss Texas."Just reframing the conversation to show the immigrants are hard workers. I'm on my second master's degree and will be starting law school after my reign as Miss Texas," Addo-Yobo said.
Addo-Yobo hopes others who follow her will see the same thing and know they also can turn their dreams into reality.project. She says her younger brother is on the spectrum, and she wants to help to help others become advocates.
