JOHN'S, N.L. — Premier Andrew Furey rang the opening bell for the Monday morning, March 6, to celebrate the start of the province’s European borrowing program and listing on the LSE.
These bonds aren’t meant to be purchased by everyday Europeans, but by large institutional investors, such as banks and pension funds. The government says it will only use the program if it can get better interest rates than what’s offered on domestic markets. Progressive Conservative Interim Leader David Brazil issued a short news release in response to the announcement.
