The New York Yankees are currently competing with nearly 41% of their total player payroll on the injured list

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday in Anaheim that his club is just trying to have fun as it tries to overcome a rasher of 13 players on Major League Baseball's injured list.

The Yanks are hoping that catcher Gary Sanchez will be available on Tuesday night at Angel Stadium against the Los Angeles Angels. He’s been out since April 11 with a left calf strain.Sanchez had a rehab game Monday night with Single-A Charleston while the Yanks won the opener of a four-game series over the Angels, 4-3, in 14 innings.

"We're having fun playing the game," Boone said."We've had a lot of guys we didn't expect to be contributors this early. In varying degrees, guys have really stepped up and helped us win games." But even the replacement Yankees play fundamentally sound baseball, and that’s a credit to the depth of their system, Boone said.
