The countdown is on for I Love Tina & Gina’s, the New York Style deli coming to the Pizitz food hall in downtown Birmingham. The new sandwich stall will host its grand opening on Saturday, April 16 from 3 to 8 p.m.
The deli’s namesake comes from the owner, Christina Harrison’s mother, Gina and her grandmother, Tina --- both of whom were raised in Long Island, New York.
A brief look at the menu is proof of that reverence. The design is a nod to the lines of the New York Subway system, and a few of the sandwich names-- such as the Boogie Down Bronx Chopped Cheese and the Bed-Stuy B.E.C.-- are a tribute to the New York City boroughs. I Love Tina & Gina’s is staying true to its roots by serving up classic sandwiches made with meats from Boar’s Head-- a New York institution .
