New York Post fires employee who posted racist, sexist articles to website, Twitter
What was initially thought of as cyber-hackers attacking the local newspaper turned out to be an inside job, according to the paper.
"The New York Post's investigation indicates that the unauthorized conduct was committed by an employee, and we are taking appropriate action," said a statement from the New York Post. "This morning, we immediately removed the vile and reprehensible content from our website and social media accounts."
The employee also posted threats against some political leaders including New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. New York Governor Kathy Hochul's campaign responded to the incident later that day saying the Post needs to "immediately explain" how the content was posted. "While the Post has made its preferences very clear in the New York Governor's race, there is no room for this violent, sexist rhetoric in our politics. We demand answers," said a statement from the campaign office. The articles were taken down and the website appears to be back to normal.
