New York transit officials' approach to handling increased ridership is going to be informed by a consulting firm’s report on practices in other major cities

The operator of New York City’s subway and bus systems has hired a consultant to examine how major transit systems around the world are handling service resumptions during the coronavirus pandemic.

Patrick Foye, the chairman of New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority, said at an authority board meeting on Wednesday that WSP U.S.A. will produce a report by the end of June to inform transit officials’ management of increased demand on subways, buses and trains.
