The signs are updated remotely from MTO's regional traffic operations centre
THUNDER BAY — The Ministry of Transportation announced it is adding more than two dozen signs along Northern Ontario highways to inform drivers about road closures and upcoming winter storms.
Fourteen of the electronic signs are being installed in the Northwest, while thirteen are earmarked for the Northeast. An MTO spokesperson said Tuesday the signs will be updated remotely from the ministry's regional traffic operation centres to deliver crucial road safety information in real time. Messages will include advisories about when plows are active on main highways, including Highways 102, 17 and 11.
