Jermani Thompson, 26, died in the accident at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport late Tuesday night.
“We are deeply saddened about the tragic loss of GAT Airline Ground Support team member, Jermani Thompson,” Kevin Dolliole, director of aviation for the airport, said in a statement. “The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport extends its sincere condolences to her family and friends, and also to our partners at GAT and Frontier Airlines. Jermani was a part of our airport family and we will continue to support one another in any way we can during this trying time.
WVUE reports Thompson was a well-known basketball player while in high school in the New Orleans area. She played college basketball at Hesston College in Kansas and Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi, earning degrees from both schools, WVUE reports. “She was a basketball guru; do anything you ask her to do,” Thompson’s mother, Angela Dorsey, tells WVUE. “I just can’t believe it, you know, my only daughter is gone. I don’t believe it. It’s like, she just told me I see you when I come back.”
