L.A. was once underwater with all sorts of creatures swimming through the landscape

The two-year-long exhibition, which opened May 2, includes about 40 fossils and specimens as well as video and interactive maps that show the ancient oceanic landscape when sea creatures swam around places like downtown, Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice and the San Fernando Valley.

The exhibit is part of a new show called “LA Underwater: The Prehistoric Sea Beneath Us,” which features creatures which once swam through what is now Los Angeles.
