JOHN'S, N.L. — Correctional officers in the province who are required to work on their first regularly scheduled day of rest will receive pay at twice their regular hourly rate — an initiative effective until Feb. 29, 2024 — it was announced Tuesday.
“The measures announced are a positive step towards acknowledging and addressing the important work of our members and the issues they face. We look forward to working with this government to continue to improve the conditions and outcomes for all involved in our province’s correctional system.”
