New guide for treating vascular birthmarks with lasers DermX DermTwitter
, published on the ASLMS website along with supporting videos, was jointly developed by ASLMS, VBF, and an international group of clinicians, marking the first consensus guideline on laser treatments for cutaneous vascular anomalies. It details 32 best practice directives for various scenarios, including advice on safety considerations, additional testing, and when to refer.
"It is important to realize that just because someone is board certified does not mean they are skilled in treating all conditions or using all lasers,"Vascular birthmarks are a common condition affecting up to 14% of children, according to VBF.
