Joseph Gladney, 23, had been recently kicked out of his family home and allegedly threatened to take revenge.

MARTINEZ — A man charged with murdering his half-brother over a family dispute was ordered to stand trial after a preliminary hearing this month, court records show.and threatening to kill another man, who is also Gladney’s half-brother, during the hectic June 14 incident in Rodeo. Gladney pleaded not guilty at a Sept. 20 court hearing; a trial date has not yet been set, records show.

Gladney allegedly shot and killed Bragg with a short barrel rifle at a home on the 1200 block of Mariposa Street in Rodeo. He then went upstairs and threatened to shoot the second victim, who leapt from the second story to escape Gladney. The man was hospitalized with injuries from the fall, police said.

Gladney was arrested later that day when a resident on the 300 block of Vallejo Avenue reported someone was hiding on the property. Police allegedly found him hiding a crawlspace on the property.
