Hospitalizations due to COVID across Canada have been rising after a gradual decline in spring.
“We are working to expand the data and dashboard to include other respiratory diseases such as RSV and influenza,” a spokesperson said, but did not offer a timeline.
“The worry is that in the fall we’ll not just have COVID, but we’ll also have flu and RSV,” Jha said. Evidence suggests that newer variants — albeit not as dangerous as the virus in the early years of the pandemic — can infect even those who have been vaccinated or were previously infected with COVID-19.
